Here is what I got, 79' Winnebago 11' (15'6"overall length)slide in truck camper.
Idea- build a trailer to mount it on, build storage area under the cab overhang to store ice chest, generator,BBQ pit, light stands etc.
I dont have a 4x4 so draggin it down PINS is not in the plans. Just a cheap beach camper for the family/ fishing cabin on wheels. I have ruined a pop up on the beach(sand in the cables/pulleys. So I am going the redneck route this time.
I plan to have the frame galvanized once I get it welded. Any other ideas?

If you go to Trailer Life magazine (or RV.net) there is a truck camper forum . Submit your question there and you will probably get lots of responses. I have read numerous posts from poeple who did exactly what you are talking about doing and have posted pics for you to look at. If you see a red Dodge with a Lance truck camper on the sand stop and say hi.

There is at least one rig I see on PINs pulled by a 4wd duelly. It's a Truck camper on a big 5th wheel over the goose neck with a jeep on the back end.

Build the trailer out of aluminum and go dual axle for the ride weight distribution. I've seen the trailer Flakman speaks of, redneck for sure but decent idea

I've seen the best. A diesel mechanic from San Antonio had a custom built 4WD aluminum Frito-Lay van.It had ford 1-ton axles and a diesel engine and a diesel generator mounted on the front. The tires were the same as on the front of a concrete truck. It had bunk beds ,a/c heat, fridge, stove etc.It was awesome. He said he rarely needed the 4wd because it was so light.I have a picture in my photo album. It was in the late 80's early 90's.The truck he had before was a big ford 4wd with a big U-haul box on the back.I have a picture of it also. Both trucks were painted metallic blue.
