Does anyone know where I could rent a boat in the causeway/ICW area?
My Brother in Law wants to come down with me next week and do some fishing down south of the JFK. Not a problem for me and my kayak but he wants to "fish, not paddle."
It seems like I remember seeing signs for rentals in the area but I can't remember which marina/bait stand has them. Any help would be appreciated and a contact # would be downright awesome.
Thanks in advance.

They rent boats at the base (military only)
Youd be be better off just going with a guide if you really wanna catch fish. _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!

Thanks for the response guys.
Bluffer I'm inclined to agree with you on the guide part but I don't think either of us will be able to fit a guided trip into the budget right after christmas. |

Don't know if they still do it but my son used to rent jon boats with 10 horse motors at the Crab Man on the Aransas Pass to Pt. A Causeway.
This was only about 3-4 years ago so they would be a good place to check.

The only two places that rent flats boats are in the Rockport area and neither will let you trailer them. They are in the water and can be used only in that area. For what they charge, you could get a guide!

The biat stand/marina on the Aransas Channel opposite from Fin & Feather rented boats as of last summer. Seems like they were jon boats with 10-15 hp motors. A friend told me that the boats were about $100/day.
Lots cheaper than a guide if you know where to go once you get in the boat. _________________ It's not the limit that counts but the experience. |

Thanks Anzuelo, That was my back-up plan.
I really wanted to fish the ICW south of the JFK but I'm sure the fish will also be holding in the deeper channels everywhere else(right??? Lets hope so anyway). I fish near that marina a lot and I know they still had boats for rent at the waters edge the last time I was down there but I can't seem to find a good phone number for them to call and check.
I appreciate all of the responses and if Santa leaves a couple of nice "Gift cards" full of money under our trees maybe we will try to get a guide. I don't think short notice will be a problem this time of year |
