Anyone catch where this landowner states that it has been the city's plan all along to make the beach a pedestrian only beach and he expects them to live up to their plans? _________________ Hardheads should be the state fish of Texas |

I suppose that during the holidays we could have a "gathering" on the beach in that area in protest and gather signatures at the same time. We still have the right to assemble in corpus don't we? It is still state property at this point. I may be willing to get this "gathering" going but don't know how much I can do when the time comes due to a serious illness in the family right now has me going back and forth between here and Arlington. _________________ Hardheads should be the state fish of Texas |

I too agree wholeheartedly with Fireline: If fishing/beach enthusiasts from the CC area AND those of us from elsewhere could ever be allowed to jointly voice their issues with what appears to me to be nothing more than local government's instituting their own version of "manifest destiny" on the rest of us; we would stand a beter chance of beating them. Then again, maybe not but I would at least feel better having had a chance to speak my peace on the subject.
All I know is this: You can count on my support for any intitiatives that will keep the beaches open to fishermen! I will be seriously pissed if, after finally finding a great place to saltwater fish, it gets shut down before I ever really got my feet wet (pardon the pun). Johnny, please keep up the great work keeping us all informed and let me know if there is anything we can do to help the cause. _________________ "I don't wanna live on that kind of island, no I don't wanna swim in a roped off sea. | Maybe its time to go door to door trying to get signatures? In my neighborhood their are allot of older people that would not be able to get out and sign a petition. If a group of us went door to door on a weekend in our own neighborhoods were people know us i bet we could build up signatures fast. |

The incredible gall of Mr Scott and the City council never ceases to amaze. THEY ACTUALLY THINK WE WILL BELIEVE THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THE PROJECT AND THE BEACH CLOSURE REQUIREMENT WITH IT. Not 60days after the con job about "its only 4200 feet " and "we are against any further closure" and "we'll put it in writing" , Mr Scott once more shows he is either woefully misinformed or not worthy of trust on this issue.
If you and the rest of the council didn't know of this issue , you have not done your due diligence and do not deserve to have sway over this issue. If you did know , then you misrepresented the facts and misled the people you are supposed to be representing. Which is it?
Do the right thing Mr Scott. Recuse yourself due to conflicts and lack of credibility on this issue. Call for the council to overturn their earlier decision and try to sell your plan based on the truth rather than distortions and halftruths. |

I'll be collecting signatures again at the Nueces County Courthouse from 0800 to 1030 Friday the 9th. Expect it'll be a busy day. Sorry, we'll continue to turn away anyone not registered to vote in Corpus Christi elections because the City Secretary will only toss their signatures out. Besides sending emails to the Mayor and City Council, as Mike S suggests, I recommend those from out of town do this:
1. Write the editors of your own local papers to ask why you haven't read anything in them about everyone in the whole country losing his and her beach driving privileges on an ever-growing span of Texas beaches. Tell those editors to call the editors of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times for recent related articles, viewpoints pieces, and editorials; to have the sense to ask to see the past few weeks' of that paper's LTTEs; and to look at this message board for differing opinions. I'm available at jfrench@stx.rr.com for background, too.
2. Contact Jerry Patterson, Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office at (512) 463-5256 and/or jerry.patterson@glo.state.tx.us. Tell him why you think the beach shouldn't be closed to driving, and ask to be notified of the time and place for the public hearing about the closure proposal. |

Contacting the Texas General Land Office is a must and very important
in the fight. Despite what the Corpus Christi City Council wants, the beach does belong to everyone. The beach overall stewartship belongs to the the Texas GLO and Jerry Patterson. Everyone needs to contact him it's the best way for the people outside Corpus Christi to be heard. According to the Texas GLO email is the best way. I have worked with these people before and belive me they do listen and are interested in your input.

| After reading the article, it is hard to believe the council was unaware that another development was in the works. The people of CC should be aware that when these council members start politicing for re-election, they should not shake hands unless they want to get greasy. |

This just goes to show what kind of LOWLIFE SCUM we have in our
government today! Work for the People, hell no! Its more like they work
for their own pockets and forget about the people that voted them in |

As a resident of Padre Island I would like to THANK all the Texas folks who share our anger and frustration regarding the beach land grab going on down here. It apperas the city council and developers are trying to get as much as they can as fast as they can so it is important to stay on top of this issue. I don't understand how the city council can call the shots on a beach that belongs to all Texans in fact all citizens who choose to enjoy our unique resource. The Texas General Land Office has to sign off on the city ordinance to restrict driving on the beach. It then would appear that if you can't sign the petition to halt the city council ordanance, making some noise at the GLO would be in order. As a side note it appears that Carole Keeton Strayhorn doesn't like the driving restriction either. Well, if she is running for Governor and gets on board to stop this land grab then she has my vote. The politicians have to remember the developers only get one vote no matter how much they contribute.
Make enough noise and people are going to start listening, local, state and nationally. |

| I know email is not the best, but if you have two minutes right now email them with your name and address and let them know you are against the beach closure and will not be voting for them if this does not get resolved. I personally like to add that I will be working and donating to any candidate that runs against them. If you have some more time call them and tell them the same. My emails are going out tonight and my phone calls will be tomorrow. |

I'm sorry guys, but if they raped you once, they will do it again. CC is denying they even knew! How many signatures did you get the first time, and why didn't it work? How many phone calls and emails where made, and why didn't that work? _________________ FIRELINE WILL " GET ER DONE!!" |

Getting the signatures wont be the problem (will have way more than enough)
The problem lies on election day, just like when the no-smoking ban in restuarants (bars next) went around everyone was up in arms about rights ect & the petition turned out way over 10,000 signatures that forced the vote.
Then on election day none showed up. A %10 voter turnout (citywide) decides it all!
Does no good to sign a petition if you dont go VOTE against it _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!
