With two days to decide, I'm wondering what to do about fishing on Tues and Wed. Should I even attempt the beach, what with the angel hair pasta weed? I suspect that leaving the long rod at home would be a wise desicion. I'm definitely brining my gigging equipment for stickin flatties at night.
Perhaps I should just bring some bait rods and soak live shrimp around the passes or jetties. What do YA'LL think? Anyone wanna hook up?

Good question. I tried the surf but quit after 3 cast. Came home and got the kayak and put in at packery flats and still caught nothing. Shamrock was a good place to be, there were some nice catchs there. I am going to try the ICW in the AM. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it.

| May want to try around Kate's hole. Hit the water with my yak about 6:45am this morning and left about an hour and a half later with two 24" reds and one 25" on live mullet. Redfish schools were all around me. Waiting on my third red to hit, a school of about 15 reds swam within about 10 ft from the front of my yak. Couldn't do anything but watch. Beautiful site. Good luck !! |

Hrmmm.... I wasn't planning on bringing a kayak, but maybe I should. Is the water warm enough without waders?

Yes the water is still nice. Kate's hole is located on the other side of the island that is north of deadmans hole. It is shown on a topspot map. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it.

Seabass,
I've got two kayaks...if you need to borrow one, let me know.
I've got a malibu II and a mainstream kingfish.
Puretexn and Obsessed went down this past weekend and said the 2nd gut was full of trash, but the first was clean. They fished a cut in the 30's where there was no first bar. They got a few reds, a small shark, and a trout...nothing spectacular.
