Over the past year I've noticed the peck, peck, peck strikes on a linked/coupled set of two separate double drop leaders using the best sized hook (size 2) ... with fresh dead shrimp!

Since bait rods are not designed for the surf, i prefer slip weights, aka egg sinkers; and but am now wanting 12 drop leaders, instead of current five drop....Want a stiffer, and longer lasting leader.....

I've heard of the alleged "hard transition" from freshwater to saltwater...Man, now that is a joke! Crappie in May-June bite harder than Sheepshead; and sluggish channel cats bite better than (fill in blank) ...

but will say this...Croaker are the hardest fighting fish on the coast (with medium-light tackle) ....Equivlanet to bull-head minnows on #4 fly rod or 1/2 lb Largemouth!( Going off-topic here...but Croaker are the hardest hitting fish on the entire coast!....Yeah can claim drum or shark, but then again your head is skewed by the facts....Closest compeitor is the flounder caught up close...but lose most of 'em!)

Another topic for a physicist and logistics man...Still claim a 54 lb drum can't equal power of a 2 lb Croaker..(Not in energy expended, but by overall strain through it givng up the ghost...And flounder....gave up trolling bottom for 'em long ago....Once they break water it's "say-a-nora!
"

To be honest, I'd like a biolgoist to find out if Bluegill --yes, Bluegill are the most glucose-bustng fish in the whole world......With 2 lb tippet and 9 foot fly-rod?

guess this is a post for Johnny French (yes, know English to a "t" but am bad on verb tense)..

Agree, a 1 or 2 lb croaker will fight you like a 8lb red! or bigger.

Bluffer,

I have yet to post my latest fishing report, of which I promise to be shocking and hilarious! I lost 2 rods this weekend, and now the Steppenwolf song of "Magic Carpet Ride" is going through my mind...I have never seen a rod shoot off like a NASA rocket so fast! Laughing

I warned my cousin all night, that my trout rods need to be watched carefully ......(report is coming soon! hehe)
