that marks all of the rocks that you might hit? I'm think I'm close to buying my first boat and don't want to tear it up the first time out. Thanks.

Not sure.... Baffin is difficult to navigate with or without the gps.... Just make sure you have insurance.

I would stay out of Baffin, too dangerous. I think I've seen more lower units on the depth finder than rocks!

Check out www.hooknline.com. They advertise a map of Baffin complete with GPS cordinances. Just be aware that not all rocks are marked and beware of low tides. Those rocks grow big and tall then.

Lat22,
You can't blame a guy for trying. Most GPS companies offer mapping software that will show hazards (rocks). I use a Magellen GPS with the Blue Nav software. It shows the rock formations and I've heard from other users that the Blue Nav software is prefered over the competition (probably whatever someone gets used to). I still hit a rock last year and had to repair a prop; luckily I was almost off of plane when I found the rock. Hope this helps. |

Your best bet if you have never run in Baffin before is to hire a guide. Mainly just to to show you the area & where to run & not to run.
Money well spent better than any GPS will show you.
You'll be glad you did. _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!
