Hello guys and gals. First let me say – surf fisherman and fisherwomen are breed of their own and admired by many as are most saltwater fisherman. Man against Nature every time you make that trip down the beach or wade out into the unknown. I've been watching and reading the board for some time now and have gained some valuable knowledge that my wife and I have been able to apply to our trips down the sand and into the bays. I’m in the market for my first boat purchase and after speaking with my father, who is an avid surf fisherman, I almost feel guilty for wanting a boat since he has done without for most of his life. While we were talking I showed my father that Texas coast fishing video from the Extreme Crew – (sorry guys I don’t know any of you yet but I think the leader of the pack is Oz) and I haven’t seen his eyes light up so much in years. He was definitely impressed with the tarpon and how y’all are catching kings in your kayaks – in fact he was amazed at how “extreme” that really is being pulled around by a behemoth of a fish - shark or king. I got to hear a lot of stories about the “way things used to be” in particular about the BIG tarpon, trout etc of yester-year on our beautiful coast and how important it is for our generation to preach conservation to future generations.

Anyway – my point is keep up the great “extreme” work since you reach many of us that wish we were in your shoes doing what you do best. Have you ever thought of contacting ESPN or some other affiliate to film you and get you out to more of the masses? It would be cool to wake up on Saturday morning (when we aren’t fishing) and turn the channel and watch Jose and the Spanish Fly followed by The Extreme Team – Oz and Crew…just a thought. You might even be able to replace the X Games with a real sport – fishing!

p.s. If the boat purchase goes through I’d love to hook up with y’all and trade a bay fishing trip for an Extreme fishing trip tour down PINS.

Tight lines to all and keep up the great work!

Jeff in the Texas Hill Country

Thanks Jeff for the kind words. It is not about who catches more or bigger fish, but having fun doing it (in a somewhat safe enviornment). Sometimes we are fortunate to have a small group to fish with and everyone do their seperate thing.. Trout fishing, Shark fishing, Tarpon fishing..etc, and with the diverse fishing method, it is likely someone hooks into a nice fish. You can never perfect the sport.. the best you can do is think like a fish.

Right on! It is great to fish with a group of people that have the same idea of what it is all about. I have the best time watching amazing fish come up in the hands of anyone. It is almost as gratifying watching someone else bring in a monster as it is to do it myself.

Looking forward to many more awesome trips!

-Cheers-

I agree whole heartedly. I gave up fishing a big bait this weekend to watch others catch em. I don't care who catches the big one I just want to be there when it happens. I want to see the fish first hand and watch her swim away and enjoy the time with my friends.

To some, fishing is a contest between men. The only person I am trying to best is myself. I really don't care who catches a big fish, but it sure is nice to be there when it happens. Just to pick up on the energy and the excitement of the moment.

I can't even tell you how excited I got this past weekend when people started telling me about the kingfish that was attacked boatside by the tiger shark. I have never even seen a tiger, and to hear people express that excitement sent me through the stratosphere.

Welcome to fishing, and remember to enjoy each moment because you never know when it will be the last trip to the beach.

Jeff, come on down and join the fun.

Yakmon

Ditto, ditto, ditto, and ditto to what those above me said. I fish with these guys as much as I can and I wouldn't have it any other way.

We have formed a sort of band of brothers so to speak that have one thing in common and that is fishing, granted we have other things in common but from there we are all different people with different ideas and views.

We get together as much as we can and go have a good time on the beach, we don't exclude anyone, we don't judge anyone, we are all equal on the sand ( well maybe not Oz, he is a damn lucky kid ) and I think we all get the same thing out of it.

We are after the spirtual battery charge, the wiping of the slate clean, to forget the things that intrude on what makes us happy. It isn't a contest that is worth fighting over, or saying things to people that are rude, but then there are people out there that live their lives like that.

We are there to have a good time and fish together as friends.

Yeah that was a cool report. I can just imagine his Shocked excitment when that tiger came after his kingfish. If something like that happened to me I would be so excited it would take me a week to back down. Very Happy
