Here that. Was down just pasth e 4wd sign on Fiday afternoon. Lots of fresh sargassum.
However, there are specks there as well. Managed one 13" schoolie speck, and a skipjack about the same size.
Caught the speck in about 10" of water in the wade just, the skip in the 2nd.
I have a question - what are the little bait fish in the surf that attack the hair on your feet and ankles out there? Everywhere I wade, I had a little school of these buggers following me around biting at my hairs. Didn't hurt, but was very annoying! I though my feet and ankles would be bald when I got out of the water! _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

| Don't know what the are John but they are in the surf from Bob Hall to Mansfield. Past the 35 the weed is gone and green water abounds. |

We were at the 4wd sign Friday morning. Big waves and lots of weed. We did manage 3 trout though....2 19" and one 22". Had some more hits but the current was so bad too that we just gave up about 10:30 or so.

John,
I am with you on those annoying little fish, they wouldnt leave me alone Saturday evening.
I was about 1 mile south of BHP and the new grass coming in was real bad, I didn't have any luck but did see the guy up from me bring in a real nice trout.
The water was green and somewhat clear. |

Relax, the hair pullers are probably little pompano. They'll often approach while you're peeling shrimp and get bored when you aren't feeding them, so they keep reminding you they're still hungry. |

Those little bait fish that nibble on the hairs of your legs arn't after the hair or your flesh. In the water the hair on your body has air bubbles on them and they also hold small particales from the water. The fish are attracted to these elements that stick out on the hair thinking they are something to eat, such as plankton or baby crabs.
So while it might feel strange being nibbled on just think of the poor fish....he thought he was going to get a meal off of you and all he got was a long hair in his mouth...uck! |
